We are excited to welcome Giampaolo Tabarrini from the Tabarrini family winery located in the hills of Umbria. For four generations, the Tabarrini family has been nestled in the corner of Umbria outside of Montefalco. They have passionately tended their vineyards, yielding exceptional fruit for producing distinctive wines.

In the late 1990’s, Giampaolo Tabarrini put years of experience to use and decided to bottle his own wine. Giampaolo now makes some of the most highly respected wines from Central Italy. He produces the top 3 wines in the region and is called “The Rising Star of Umbria.” Tabarrini is continually well rated for his single-vineyard Sagrantino’s by Gambero Rosso, The Wine Advocate, and most recently, Wine Spectator.

We will be tasting 5 Wines

Critical Acclaim

WS95 Wine Spectator
There’s a pleasing creaminess to the intense tannins of this harmonious, full-bodied red, offering crushed cassis and black raspberry fruit that shows accents of lavender and rosemary, with licorice, espresso and loamy earth notes. An iron fist in a velvet glove, this should unfurl beautifully with age. Best from 2020 through 2035.

RP92 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2013 Montefalco Sagrantino Colle alle Macchie is perhaps the most important of Tabarrini’s single-vineyard wines. The tannic Sagrantino grape is aged in large oak casks for three years. Grapes are planted in clay soils with full southern exposures. This is a balanced and very hearty red wine that possesses striking richness and density. The wine’s firm structure has been softly tempered, thanks to the long barrel-aging period.
