Davide DiPaolo, Italian Portfolio Manager from Monsieur Touton Selection, will be returning to join us for a special tasting of Italian Wines! We will be tasting 1 Sparkling Franciacorta, 1 White and 3 reds from Barbaresco and Tuscany.

Franciacorta, Bellavista Alma Gran Cuvee
77% Chardonnay, 1% Pinot Bianco, 22% Pinot Nero
Franciacorta is a sparkling wine from Italy’s Lombardy region that’s known for its traditional production methods ( Classical Method like champagne) and high-quality grapes. The grapes must be hand-harvested between August 10 and September 10, and at least 50% of the wine must be made from Chardonnay and/or Pinot Nero.
Aromas of acacia honey, white pepper, green apples and lemon pulp with fresh dough. Firm acidity with a lean body, yet a fine, creamy mousse. Good finish. JS 92 Pts

Piemonte Bianco, Mura Mura
100% Favorita grapes
Aromas of acacia flowers, yellow plum, melon and hints of vanilla.selection of the bunches, maceration on the skins for about 60 hours, aging in 400 liter ceramic barrels for approximately 14 months. Bianca’s depth, its fullness, its flavor that are specific to it, allow this wine to compete blindly with the great white wines of the northern Rhône.

Barbaresco , Faset Mura Mura
100% Nebbiolo grapes
Faset cru is located behind Barbaresco, a vast amphitheater that overlooks the Tanaro River. The soil of our vineyard is characterized by a great presence of sand compared to the surrounding marls. Together with the climate mitigated by the river, it yields a complex wine with refined and enticing aromas.  Intense ruby red colour with delicate brightening on the rim. Compact, deep nose with notes of sour cherries and red currant, some dried Mediterranean herbs in the background. Juicy and savoury on the palate, structured, rich, with tight tannin structure, vibrant acidity

Super Tuscan, Altrovino
50% Cabernet Franc 50% Merlot
This is a gorgeous young red with blackberry, blackcurrant and lavender aromas and flavors. Medium to full body and a round, creamy texture. Crushed-stone notes come through. Drink or hold. James Suckling 94 Pts

Super Tuscan , Petra
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes
This Bordeaux-style Tuscan red has a peppery, herbaceous nose, with spices, pencil lead and a hint of sour cherry. The palate is more cherry, now Bing, and dark with dried figs, raisins and chocolate. Herbs reappear on a lengthy, integrated finish. WS 92 Pts
