What better way to celebrate ST. Patrick’s Day then an evening with an Italian wine ambassador and sommelier.

We will be tasting 5 wines from Sorrentino Winery from the base of Mt. Vesuvio in Campania. Umberto Rusciano will be here showing 5 wines from Sorrentino Winery.

Sorrentino Winery located in Boscotrecase within the Vesuvius National Park, this fifth-generation family estate manages 35 hectares of organic vineyards rooted in mineral-rich volcanic soil. Their history is deeply tied to the land; while the family’s agricultural roots date back to the 19th century, it was modernized in the 1990s by Paolo and Angela Sorrentino, who transformed it into a premier destination for wine tourism and sustainable viticulture.

The winery is best known for its production of the legendary Lacryma Christi (Tears of Christ), crafted from native grapes like Caprettone and Piedirosso. Because the estate sits on centuries of lava flows, the wines possess a distinct minerality and complexity that are unique to this terroir.

Beyond the cellar, the Sorrentino family maintains a diverse ecosystem by growing traditional Vesuvian apricots, olives, and tomatoes alongside their vines, all of which are farmed with a certified organic philosophy.

For visitors, the experience is as much about the scenery as it is about the wine. The estate offers guided tours and tastings on panoramic terraces that provide stunning views of the Gulf of Naples, Capri, and Pompeii. Often paired with a traditional four-course lunch featuring local ingredients, a visit here offers a comprehensive sensory journey through the history and flavors of the Neapolitan landscape.
