Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore, Bertani Catullo
Corvina Veronese (70%), Corvinone (20%), and Rondinella (10%)
Aged in 75-hectolitre French oak barrels for 12 months, followed by a further year in 100-hectolitre concrete vats, and then at least 6 months in the bottle.
James Suckling awarded the wine 95 points, calling it a “brilliant” and “streamlined expression” with notes of “strawberries, lilacs, Asian plums, cloves and a hint of licorice”.

Amarone, Bertani Valpantena
80% Corvina Veronese and 20% Rondinella.
Grapes are hand-selected and air-dried (a process called appassimento) in single-layer crates until mid-January to concentrate flavors and structure.   The wine is aged for about 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels (and a small part in barriques), followed by at least six months of maturation in the bottle.
Wine Spectator awarded the wine 92 points, highlighting “savory underbrush and smoke notes play off the sweet and juicy core of dried cranberry fruit” and hints of “dark chocolate, sassafras, blood orange peel and white pepper linger on the mouthwatering finish”.

Super Tuscan, Ornellaia “Le Serre Nuove”
50% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, and 11% Petit Verdot.
Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is considered the estate’s “second wine,” made with the same ethos and grape varieties as its more famous “mother” wine, Ornellaia
Wine Enthusiast awarded an impressive 95 points, noting “dark fruit and a sanguine, tangy metallic component” along with undertones of “vanilla and chocolate”.
Vinous awarded 94 points, calling it a “powerhouse” with masses of “dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, leather, licorice and cloves”.
