Wine Tastings

Our friend Larry recently returned from a fantastic trip to Italy to visit some wineries.  He will be showing 4 great wines from 3 different wineries from his trip! Stop in to hear about these great wineries and taste some wine!

Vitiano Bianco, Umbria
Vermentino & Chardonnay  Grapes
Floral aromas meld with green apple and citrus notes.  Hints of peach and honey.

Regaleali Nero d’ Avola  “Lamuri” Sicily
100% Nero d’ Avola
Made for a selection of Nero d’Avola grapes cultivated on the high hills. It expresses the primary aromas, without excess from the ripening process, it’s distinguished by the variety from the warmest parts of Sicily. Different age barriques provide soft and elegant tannins, with subtle hints of wood. Its name comes from the Sicilian word for love, “L’Amore”, the same love that Tasca d’Almerita put into its work. – Winemaker Notes
92 points – James Suckling
A delicious, juicy nero d’avola with dried-cherry, berry and orange-peel aromas and flavors. It’s medium-to full-bodied with round tannins and a juicy finish. Tangy at the end, too. Drink now.

San Polo Rosso di Montalcino
100% Sangiovese from Molntalcino
Brillant ruby red in hue. The nose unfolds to reveal aromas of small fresh berries and a trace of maraschino cherry, melded with hints of blackberries and black cherries and followed by a hint of vanilla. It is a very fragrant wine of good intensity, warm and supple, with a medium-structure and balanced tannins.

Cotarella Super Tuscan “Sodale”
100% Merlot
Sodale is deep red in color with purplish hues. On the nose aromatic notes of red fruit and sweet spices are in perfect harmony with woody vanilla notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, harmonious and pleasant with a lenghty balanced finish with polished, sweet tannins.  The Cotarella family was especially attracted to the idea of making Merlot in Lazio thanks to the volcanic soils commonly found in this region. Since 2015, when they made their first vintage, the family has worked to hone in on the special qualities of these soils. 92 pts R Parker
