We will be tasting Five Wines from the Colterenzio Winery Alto Adige

Pinot Grigio

100% Pinot Grigio grapes. Pale straw yellow in color with an attractive aroma of citrus fruits, peach and honeydew melon; medium rich, fruity and direct on the palate with orchard fruit flavors and tangy acidity on the finish. Cellaring potential: 2 – 3 years.

Chardonnay

100% Chardonnay grapes Chardonnay is the classic white Burgundy grape variety and has been producing fine wines in South Tyrol for well over a century. This enormously popular wine is pale yellow with green reflexes in color, delicate and floral in aromas. The flavor is infused with hints of exotic fruits reminiscent of pineapple, and mango; on the palate it is a concentration of mellowness and vivacity with classic mineral notes and crisp acidity.

From the  MENHIR WINERY, PUGLIA

Brothers Gaetano and Vito Marangelli purchased vineyards in 2000 and began making wines from ancient, some nearly extinct, varietals. Starting from nothing, they named their first wine “Number Zero.” Their aim is to shed new light on ancient traditions, with vision, passion and hard work. “Fine,” which means “The End” in Italian, is their tribute to finally making it.

Quota 31 Primitivo

100% Primitivo Grapes If you enjoy a classic red zinfandel you will love this wine. Flavors of black cherries, plums, blackberries with a hint of herbs and spice.

Il Mandorlo

100% Negroamaro grapes Medium bodied red with dark fruit and dark bitter chocolate finish FROM THE TENUTE DETTORI WINERY , SARDEGNA: Dettori is a family owned and operated winery focused on giving their best to the land so that it gives its best in return. While they are certified biodynamic and organic, they don’t boast either on their labels. Third generation winemaker Alessandro says “We make wine. That is our story. The story isn’t that we are organic. That is only an instrument that allows us to grow healthier plants and produce better wine.”

Tuderi

100% Cannonau grapes Garnet color that fades to a brick tone the more it ages. The nose has a high pitch of balsamic tones and ripe red berries with a hint of spice. In the mouth it is full of spices like rosemary and thyme, myrtle with blueberries and plum. The acidity present from start to the end the tannins are important but well integrated. This is a wine for main courses of red meat particularly if cooked on grill, like a flank steak.

Reservations are highly suggested if you plan on staying for dinner.
